Çukurova Philharmonic Association Polyphonic Children's Choir
The Polyphonic Children's Choir, which was established within the Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra and under the auspices of the Çukurova Philharmonic Association, started its work on March 1, 1999 with 52 children who won the qualifying rounds. Its aim is to provide professional music education to children at an early age, to prepare them for the exams of fine arts high schools and conservatories, and to introduce polyphony in Adana.
The choir was directed by Ecmel ÇATIKKAŞ, a graduate of Bilkent University Composition Department, for 2 years since its establishment, and performed its first concert on April 23, 1999 with the Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra.
Between 2000 and 2012, he coached by ÇDSO flutist Nevin APAYDIN. In July 2011, ÇDSO Orchestra Deputy Chief Eray İNAL was appointed as the director of the choir.
The choir became a part of the UMUT 2000 Children's Choir, which consists of the Children's Choirs of 6 provinces. Established under the leadership of Mersin State Opera and Ballet Children's Choir, this choir created a forest in the name of Ahmet Mete Işıkara in Mersin in 2002 with the “One Concert, One Forest” project. In 2003, 2 “Hope” in Adana and Mersin 2000 more forests were created. He worked actively in the projects of reintegration of children into society at the Houses of Love, which is under the Prime Ministry Social Services and Child Protection Agency, and in many responsibility projects of the Adana Governorship.
Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra Polyphonic Children's and Youth Choir, which is under the Ministry of Culture, has given many concerts with piano and orchestra since its establishment. He participated in many concerts, festivals and festivities in Adana, Mersin, Tarsus, Antakya, Iskenderun and Ankara. The choir, which has trained more than 1000 children to date, has 2 Bronze medals and has received more than 10 awards and degrees in the Turkish Choir Festival, creates a solid musical foundation in children, instilling the awareness of working together, raising children with advanced cultural and artistic level, opening their horizons. , and continues its mission to make people of Adana love polyphonic music.
The choir participated in the International Choirs Festival held in Macedonia in August 2017 and received the Third (3rd) prize in its category.
